Upwards Football 2009

 

Upwards football is a partnership between the FUMC and FPC congregations. For FPC, it represents an all-church event. We have opportunities for everyone to get involved.

 

Reaching Seekers

 

Anyone may volunteer in this capacity by showing on Saturday morning to enjoy the games from the information table. Simply answer any questions anyone may have about our church.

Prayer Teams

 

The Prayer Teams are asked to pray throughout the season for the players, their parents, coaches, officials, and all volunteers connected with the season. At some times, specific prayer requests may be made. Those will be passed along to the prayer teams. The Presbyterian Women's Martha Circle has volunteered to be part of the Prayer Team from FPC. However, everyone may contribute to the Prayer Team. Just let us know you're praying for Upwards and we'll add you to the list to receive any specific prayer requests. Ellyn Z. is coordinating for Presbyterian Women. You can let her or Cary Reams know you're joining the Prayer Team.

 

Concessions

 

FPC will be operating concessions for Upwards Football this Fall. Pending a motion before Session, the proceeds from the Concessions will be used to pay down the principle on the smaller of the church mortgages. Please contact Ernie Pero or Mike McChesney to volunteer for the concessions team.

Field Prep

 

If you've got football, you've got white lines. We'll need a group of volunteers to make sure the lines are straight and visible. The Propery Committee is coordinating volunteers to create a great place for these kids to play ball. Please contact Cary soon to volunteer for this activity.

Coaching

 

Most of the teams already have their head coaches. But, we can always use more volunteers to assist with each team. Please contact Cary if you're interested.

Officiating

 

We could still use some volunteer officials to help with the games. There are some special rules involved with Upwards Football. The next training opportunity will be during the Jamboree / walk-through on Saturday, Sept 5, beginning at 815am.

 

The Season

 

The season runs Sept 5 - Nov 5. All games are scheduled for Saturday mornings, sans rain-outs, on this plan:

8:30am - K/1st Grade Game

9:30am - 2/3rd Grade Game

10:30am - 4th-6th Grade Game
